London Tag Rugby Championships - Saturday 1st July

The London Tag Rugby Championships enters its eighth year in 2017. This year's Championships returns to our most popular tournament venue, Wasps, with a new date outside of the school holidays making it easier for you to get your team mates together for the biggest event of the year!

- The British & Irish Lions game against New Zealand will be shown at the Twyford Avenue Sports Club at 8:35am with coffee and bacon sandwiches available at the clubhouse -

The London Tag Rugby Championships is our marquee one day Tag Rugby festival and the UK's largest one day adult Tag Rugby festival. This year the festival will take place on Saturday 1st July at Wasps FC's Twyford Avenue Sports Club in Acton, London (W3 9QA). The post tournament party will take place at Wasps three onsite bars, where a DJ will play our favourite tunes until late. It’s a great opportunity for a night out with your team!

Former NRL and International refereee Bill Harrigan will be our special guest on the day and wiill referee some games and help present some of the post-match prizes.

Mixed and men's, social, A grade and, for the first time, beginner teams come together for the Championships. This year we've introduced a new beginner grade for teams and individuals still learning the basics, who have not yet played two full seasons. So now everyone can get in involved!

The London Tag Rugby Championships is a great opportunity to play against different players from outside the leagues you play in. If your usual team can't all play or you just fancy a change of team then don't worry, you can still play. Just sign up as a group or individual and we will create a team for you or place you in a team. Signing up as an individual is a great way to meet new people.

The Championships will kick-off at 11:30am and conclude at approximately 5:30pm. It’ll be played in the 7-a-side format (4 males & 3 females on the pitch in mixed grades) using standard Try Tag Rugby rules. All teams will receive a minimum of 90 minutes game time and some finals will take place on Wasps beautiful first team pitch. Note, there will be no Saturday leagues taking place on 1st July, so that all teams and players can get involved!

As well as prizes for the winning teams, an award will be given to the team which comes in the best matching fancy dress outfits. This year's fancy dress theme is ANIMALS! (Note: Fancy dress outfits being worn to play in must adhere to Try Tag Rugby’s safety regulations regarding to jewellery, outside pockets or anything likely to cause an injury).

TEAM GRADING
To ensure your team is graded and seeded correctly please ensure that your squad list is up to date in the system by the registration deadline of 9am Tuesday 27th June.

If your festival team is significantly stronger or weaker than your usual weekly team but you will be using the same team name, please email info@trytagrugby.com to let us know before we seed the teams.

For long running teams with a slightly different squad to normal, we recommend you set-up a “Festival” version of your team within our system by registering a new team, so that you can just include your players taking part on the day.

TALENT CAP
Note: Please be aware that there is a talent cap on International representative players in place for this Festival which may affect your team. For more details click here.
