Yorkshire Tag Championships - Saturday 5th August
Join us for the third annual Yorkshire Tag Championships on Saturday 5th August at Stanningley Rugby Club in Leeds.
The 2017 Yorkshire Tag Rugby Championships is set to be a thrilling day of Tag Rugby with a great party atmosphere! It's a great opportunity to play against players and teams from the different leagues in Yorkshire as well as teams making to trip from Manchester and London. If your usual team can't all play or you just fancy a change of team then don't worry, you can still play. Just sign up as a group or individual and we will create a team for you or place you in a team. Signing up as an individual is a great way to meet new people.
Games will be played in the mixed 7-a-side format (4 males and 3 females on the pitch). There are unlimited substitions during the games and there is no limit placed upon squad sizes however we would normally suggest a squad of 10-12 people.
Teams, part teams and individuals can register for the event, with all standards welcome, including beginners. For teams and players new to Tag Rugby there will be a rules briefing provided before the games get underway.
Depending on the final team count, teams will play an initial pool stage before then breaking into a Cup, Plate and Bowl competition based upon the teams standing at the end of the pool phase.
As well as the Tag Rugby there will be an award to the team in the best fancy dress. This years fancy dress theme, as chosen by a poll on facebook, will be Heroes & Villains (Note: Fancy dress outfits being worn to play in must adhere to Try Tag Rugby’s safety regulations regarding to jewellery, outside pockets or anything likely to cause an injury). Last year's theme was anything beginning with the ‘Letter T’ with the Thunderbirds (pictured above) from our Bradford & Bingley league winning the prestigeous award of best dressed team. The year before a London team took home the fancy dress title, can Yorkshire make it two years running in the fancy dress stakes?
Don't forget to pack your party clothes as well as your Tag gear! After the final whistle has been blown and the presentations made, the drinks will be flowing as the DJ cranks up the music and gets the after party underway in the clubhouse! Later on in the evening the party will move a short distance into the City where it will continue on late into the night! The Yorkshire Tag Championships after party is one of the Tag socials of the year and a great opportunity for a night out with your team!
Stanningley Rugby Club is located 10 minutes drive across the valley from Headingley Stadium, the home of Leeds Rhinos.
