The 2012 UK summer is fast approaching us with an anticipated 160 teams participating across 11 locations in London. The Organisation

Try Tag Rugby run adult Tag Rugby competitions across London. Try Tag Rugby was formed in August 2009 to service the demand for Tag Rugby being played in the capital. Our aim is provide excellent venues, varied divisions and standards of competition, outstanding competition administration and a high level of customer service whilst developing the sport of Tag Rugby throughout the UK. Above all, Try Tag Rugby is a fun place to work as we enjoy what we do!

The Role of Competition Supervisor x 3 in London

We are looking for 3 Competition Supervisors based in London for summer 2012 to work on self employment contracts. Reporting directly to the CEO & Managing Director, with input from the Competition Manager, this position requires self motivated, innovative people with strong customer focus and a love for Rugby (all codes). You will assist with the management and operations of our leagues and administrative duties. The role will require you to work four evenings per week, facilitating events at our competitions and social venues, with the remainder of time made up with administrative duties. You may also be required to referee & coach on occasions. This position represents a fantastic opportunity to make your mark in sports event management.

We are looking for one competition supervisor to join the team in mid March and the remaining two between the 2nd-16th April, with all Competition Supervisor roles continuing through until Saturday, 18th August when Try Tag Rugby will be hosting the 2012 GOAL London Tag Rugby Championships. Depending on Autumn registration numbers, contracts will be extended for a further 2 months if targets are met and could possibly lead to permanent employment. This role would suit Rugby enthusiasts and working holiday makers.

Responsibilities of the Competition Supervisor

Key responsibilities of this position include:

Venue Management
-    Oversee the onsite management of your venues
-    Work with the Try Tag Rugby team to oversee the off site management, administration and operations of your venues
-    Assist with competition administration including but not limited to fixtures, results and website updates
-    Collect registration fees and sell Tag Rugby shorts at your venues

Staff Management
-    Responsible for the recruitment and roster of venue staff and referees
-    Responsible for the scheduling of appraisals, reviews, training etc for new venue staff and referees
-    Responsible for the existing training and development of venue staff and referees

Membership
-    Assist with team / player registration enquiries
-    General liaison with players throughout the season, both at the ground, the post match social venue, email and phone
-    Making the effort to know all your players on a personal level and by knowing every players name at your competitions
-    Assist with membership drives and advertising for upcoming seasons

Administration
-    Assist with the day to day running of Try Tag Rugby including but not limited to answering emails and phone calls, dealing with post, updating the website, petty cash management, washing equipment and more.

Refereeing
-    Assist with refereeing at Try Tag Rugby weekend one day Tag Rugby festivals. You may be required to referee on the odd occasion if your allocated referee can’t make the venue at late notice.

Coaching
-    Responsible for conducting Tag Rugby coaching sessions, mainly with adult Tag Rugby teams but on occasions in the schools system and even at the London Youth Games

The Ideal Candidates

The ideal candidates will possess the ability to use their initiative and work autonomously. You will have confidence in managing staff, referees, have excellent oral and written communication skills and have a strong back ground in Rugby or sports management. Strong administration skills are required with a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute. A senior first aid certificate is essential. You will need to have good knowledge of the sport of Tag Rugby and also need to be a capable Tag Rugby referee. It will be desirable that you possess a level one coaching qualification in any form of Rugby or you will be working towards one (not essential).

Location

Try Tag Rugby will be running competitions at venues in London and its surroundings. Which venues the successful candidates work at will be determined depending on demand and suitability. Try Tag Rugby will be looking to move into office premises in zone 2 in London in early 2012.

Hours

You will work 35 per week, broken down as follows:
Monday to Thursday: 7 hours
Friday/Weekends: Amount pending workload and festivals (maximum of 35 hours per week)
 
Core hours will be 6-10pm Monday to Thursday. If you are required to work weekends you will have the subsequent time taken off your weekday work schedule. We can be flexible regarding working arrangements for the remaining hours and this position has the flexibility to take Friday’s off on occasions to allow for travellers. The successful candidates will be required to work at occasional weekend festivals throughout the summer.

The Role of Administration Officer in London

We are looking for a full-time Administration Officer to be based in London for summer 2012 to work on a self employment contract. Reporting directly to the Managing Director with input from the CEO, this position requires a self motivated, innovative person with strong customer focus, a love for Rugby (all codes) and strong administration skills with the ability to pick up and master business administration computer systems. You will be dealing with the player registration process from start to finish, assist with the one day festival administration as well as providing assistance to the Competition Manager and the Competition Supervisors with administration duties. The role will require you to work 35 hours per week (we can be flexible on the times). You may be required to fill in as a referee on occasions and be available for one day weekend tournaments. You will also be required to fill in as a competition supervisor on occasions.

The role begins in mid March and continues through until Friday the 7th of September. Depending on Autumn registration numbers, this contract may be extended for a further 2 months if targets are met and could possibly lead to permanent employment. This role would suit Rugby enthusiasts and working holiday makers.

Responsibilities of the Administration Officer

Key responsibilities of this position include:

Registration Process

- Deal with registrations from the initial email/phone enquiry to sending all the relevant information and payment procedures
- Gain a strong understanding of Try Tag Rugby sports competition management and business administration system
- Dealing with kit orders and payments
- Chasing outstanding registration fees

Clerical Duties

- Required for general office tasks such as answering phones, photocopying, sending invoices, filing etc…

Mail

- To keep up to date with all Try Tag Rugby incoming/outgoing mail

Banking

- To keep up to date with all Try Tag Rugby banking of petty cash etc…

Competition Supervisor/Referee

- Required to fill in for Competition Supervisors if sick/unavailable and to cover for referees on occasions.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to use their initiative and work autonomously. You will have a friendly and fun personality, have excellent oral and written communication skills, be a sports enthusiast and have a strong back ground in office administration. You will also be hard working, extremely organised and have a minimum typing speed of 60 words per minute. A senior first aid certificate is desirable but not essential. You will need to have good knowledge of London, the sport of Tag Rugby and you will need to be a capable Tag Rugby referee (desirable but not essential).
