The team at Try Tag Rugby are pleased to announce that we will be entering a representative side at the 2012 London Rugby League 9's. The date and venue are still to be confirmed but will most likely take place on the 14th of April. We are currently taking expressions of interest from players, sponsors and off-field support staff who would like to be a part of the team.
In 2011, Try Tag Rugby entered a side in the London Rugby League 9's as a fun day out for our members but to also try and raise the profile of Tag Rugby amongst the London Rugby community.
The squad did exceptionally well, reaching the finals to narrowly go down to the 2010 champions, the Hammersmith Hillshoists. Try Tag Rugby managed to knock out the semi professional Hemel Stags in the semi final stage of the tournament, as well as finishing ahead of some of the biggest clubs in London Rugby League such as the London Skolars, South London Storm, St.Albans Centurians & West London Sharks.
In 2012, Try Tag Rugby will look to go one better and take out the London Rugby League 9's. We are pleased to advise that Try Tag Rugby will have the services of Andrew Le Breton (Ex Sydney Roosters/Newtown Jets), Patrick Ginty (Ex Cronulla Sharks) and Kim Parkinson (Ex Burleigh Bears) who are all current Tag Rugby players. Stay tuned as more big name players will be released in due course including a former Junior Kiwi (NZ U/18's) representative.
All Try Tag Rugby registered players are welcome to put your name forward for selection. Experience in Rugby League or Rugby Union will be desirable but not essential. The squad will start training in February.
Try Tag Rugby will also be looking to enter a side in a Rugby Union 7's tournament in 2012. If you would like to nominate a tournament to enter, please email Phillip Browne on the below email address.
We are looking for the following positions to be filled for the team: Manager, Physiotherapist, Trainer & Waterboy
If you would like to represent Try Tag Rugby at the 2012 London Rugby League 9's as a player, sponsor or off-field support staff, please email Phillip Browne at phillipbrowne@trytagrugby.com
