Last Saturday (31st March), 14 London Tag Rugby teams battled it out over two divisions for the Finsbury Park Tag Rugby Festival A grade and Social grade titles! After a glorious week of weather in the capital, Saturday was a little milder and overcast but still good conditions for Tag Rugby.

In the A grade, the Chargers of the Acton competition finished top of the pool matches and set up a finals clash with Taguila Shots from White City. The Chargers were in great form in the pool stages going through undefeated while Taguila Shots lost only the one match. However the Chargers were too good in the end with a 10-5 victory in the final! Taguila Shot’s Martin Ams was named “A grade player of the tournament” with the Charger’s Simon Kang named “player of the final”. Both award winners have been London Australia representatives. In the Social grade, Moves Like Tagger from Barnes topped the pool stages alongside Eye of the Tagger from Highbury. The final was a very even contest with Moves Like Tagger just pulling away in the end with a 7-5 triumph. Eye of the Tagger’s Luke Forrest was named “Social grade player of the tournament” with Moves Like Tagger’s Steve Drury named “player of the final”.

Finsbury Park Festival Registrations Now Open - 24/02/12
Registrations for Try Tag Rugby's first one day festival of the year have now closed! However there is still room for more female players to join a team. If you'd like to play please email info@trytagrugby.com. The festival will be held on Saturday, 31st March at our most popular venue, Finsbury Park. The day will include a round robin Tag Rugby tournament with great prizes to give away and a legendary after party at one of London's best pubs, The Faltering Fullback!

Finsbury Park Tag Rugby Festival - 31st March, 2012
Finsbury Park is Try Tag Rugby's most popular venue where 21 teams took to the pitch for the late summer season in 2011. With no Late Winter season being run at Finsbury Park in 2012, this festival will bring together all the teams from North London and beyond back to Finsbury Park for the first time in 2012, for a round robin tournament with every team getting a minimum of 90 minutes game time!
The Finsbury Park Tag Rugby Festival will kick off at 12pm and conclude at 4.30pm. There will be Mixed A grade and Mixed social grade divisions. This is a great opportunity for new players to experience Tag Rugby before signing up to a league!
The presentation will commence at 5pm and the after party not long after, which will be held at the nearby legendary Faltering Fullback Pub, home of cheap jugs of beer and some of the best Thai food in London!
Teams from all over London are welcome to enter this festival, to sample one of the most social Tag Rugby venues around. The Highbury early and late summer champions, Heptagonals went through the 2011 Finsbury Park Tag Rugby festival undefeated with a 6 - 3 victory over Mix & Tag in the final. Can Heptagonals defend their title in 2012?
