As Try Tag Rugby continues to grow, with more venues, more competitions, and more players and teams getting involved, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Sarah James in the new role of Administration Officer to support this growth. Sarah will be working behind the scenes during the busy summer seasons and beyond to help ensure the smooth running of all competitions and events. The main responsibility of this role will be the registration process, from assisting with new player enquiries to verifying that teams and individuals have successfully registered for the season.
Try Tag Rugby also has a new office in Putney, where Sarah will be based as the first point of contact for any queries. Sarah is an experienced administrator with a background in media and events and of course she’s a massive fan of Rugby! "Being born and raised in the south of England, I was brought up on Rugby Union and remain an avid follower of the code. But as my mum’s side of the family is from Yorkshire, I have to have an interest in Rugby League too!" Sarah is also a qualified nutritionist, and prior to her appointment at Try Tag Rugby, worked for a learned society that held conference and published journals on the subject of nutrition science. But having recently specialised in sports nutrition, she was eager to get hands-on experience in the sports industry. Sarah commented on her new appointment, "I am delighted to have been offered this opportunity by Try Tag Rugby, to further the skills I have developed in previous employment in a field that I love. As well as a passion for Rugby, I am enthusiastic about what Try Tag Rugby represents - a fun way to get fit and a really great way to meet new people." After attending a Spring league Tag Rugby match at Barnes, in the snow, Sarah commented, "For players to turn up and play with such enthusiasm in conditions like this, they really must enjoy it! And that same enthusiasm is clear in Phillip and Alistair, who set up Try Tag Rugby. I feel very privileged to be asked to work with them, to help as this young company grows, and I can’t wait to get started!" Sports Questions put to Sarah 1) Which English Rugby Super League Team do you support? "I support London Broncos. I live in Twickenham, so they play 5 minutes from my front door! It isn’t always easy being a Bronco’s supporter though! I do also keep an eye on Huddersfield, as I have family still living there." 2) Which Australian Rugby League Team do you support? "If I was forced to answer this, I would have to say Brisbane Broncos or New Zealand Warriors. But I don’t have an obvious affiliation, and NRL coverage is pretty rubbish in the UK so I could definitely be swayed!! I do love watching State of Origin games though, for me that’s Rugby League at it's best." 3) Which English Rugby Union Team do you support? “Much easier question. Saracens, 100%, through and through!! Despite living on the Stoop’s doorstep, I choose to travel to Watford for every home game!” 4) Which Super 15 team do you support? “It has to be the Crusaders. I am often up at crazy am to watch Super Rugby! Crusaders have had a tough couple of years, losing their home in the tragic earthquake, but they still play beautiful Rugby. Getting the chance to see them play at Twickenham last season was absolutely amazing!" 5) Which English Football Team do you support? “The mighty Spurs! They are my dad’s team, and I am pretty sure I would be disowned if my allegiance was with any other team. When I was a kid, we did have a family season ticket at Coventry - long story! - so I do have a soft spot for them as well.” Try Tag Rugby are delighted to have Sarah on board and we would like to officially welcome her to the team! |
