Great Britain Coaches Wanted

Try Tag Rugby is looking for voluntary coaches to help select our 2017 Great Britain teams and coach the sides leading up to tests against Ireland and Australia.

The applicants must be available to attend the following events:

Sunday 19th March (Twyford Ave Sports Ground 1-6pm)
Sunday 26th March (East London Rugby Club 1-6pm)
Saturday 22nd and 23rd July – International Tri Series (GB, Australia and Ireland)
Saturday 16th September – British & Irish Cup

Coaches should be experienced high level Tag Rugby players with some coaching experience/qualifications. They would also need to be available regularly train the team once training dates are announced.

The deadline for applications is 9am Friday 24th February 2017 (full application process is detailed below). Player-coaches and players looking to coach one team and play in another will be considered. However, we can only allow a limited number of coaches to play in a separate team, as to avoid fixture clashes during the British & Irish Cup.

Great Britain coach roles & responsibilities
- Selection and development of the Great Britain teams
- Liaise with Try Tag Rugby in the lead up to the open trials
- Assist with the organising required to run successful trials
- Help select the six squads
- Available for the trials, regular weekend training and to attend the events listed above
- Ensure that all squad members are committed and turning up to training
- To provide individual feedback to players to improve their game
- To provide a high standard to coaching in order for individuals and the team to progress

Knowledge, skills and experience
- High level of Tag Rugby played and good knowledge of the sport
- Previous coaching experience in Tag Rugby or other sports with relevant qualifications
- High level of leadership
- Set and demand high standards
- High level of oral communication skills
- Ability to give constructive feedback
- Decision maker
- Keeping calm under pressure

Personal characteristics
- Professional at all times
- Mature and responsible
- Confident
- Approachable
- Clear and concise communicator
- Well organised and a good planner

Lastly and most importantly, understands the ethos of what Try Tag Rugby is about and upholds the highest levels of sportsmanship, dignity and moral standards at all times whilst representing Try Tag Rugby and Great Britain. 

Whilst our coaches will be volunteers, they will be well looked after, receiving complimentary off field wear and other goodies from Try Tag Rugby such as a free ticket to the 2017 boat party. As per player eligibility, to be eligible to coach you must not have received a suspension in a Try Tag Rugby league within the two years leading up to the 2017 British & Irish Cup. I
