Great Britain squads announced for 2017 tests
Try Tag Rugby, official Great Britain delegates to the International Tag Federation and the European Tag Federation, has announced the Great Britain squads for the 2017 International Tests against Ireland and Australia.
Great Britain will play tests against Ireland and Australia this year ahead of the Tag Rugby World Cup in 2018.
The tests are as follows:
Saturday 22nd & 23rd July – International Tri Series (GB, Australia and Ireland)
Saturday 16th September – British & Irish Cup (Ireland)
The standard this year was very high, due to the big improvement in playing standards across the board and increased player base. Some very tough decisions have been made and we must select the best and most committed players possible.
Commiserations to the trialists who missed out on selection. For those of you who have missed out on selection, there will be more opportunities to represent Great Britian in future years.
Great Britain Squads and Coaches:
Mixed Open - Coach: Alex Sadgrove
Mixed seniors (men 32+, women 29+) - Coaches: Craig Auchinachie & Andrew Davis
Breeda Mac Eoin
Men's Seniors (29+) - Coach: Matthew Picknett
Men's Open - Coach: Steve Jermyn
Women's Seniors (26+) - Coaches: Murray Wilson & Shelley Lombardo
Women's Open - Coach: Jodie Bijorac
Congratulations to all the players who have been named in the 2017 Great Britain squads. We look forward to starting the 2017 International campaign on Sunday.
Great Britain players will receive free entry into the 2017 London Origin Tag Rugby Series on Saturday 13th May which will also act as a fundraiser for the Great Britain squads to travel to Ireland. This is a great chance for our Great Britain squads to play more elite level Tag leading into this year's international fixtures.
All players will be contacted shortly by email with further details and the time and venue for the first training session this Sunday (23rd April).
