Vacancy: Events and Sponsorship Manager
Try Tag Rugby is looking to recruit a full-time Events and Sponsorship Manager to be based in our London office.
Event planning and hands on event work plus previous experience with commercial sponsorship and sponsorship activation is essential for this role.
The aim of the role is to grow and manage Try Tag Rugby’s existing events, manage Try Tag Rugby’s portfolio of sponsorships and seek new sponsors and partners utilising the organisations wide ranging assets.
- Manage existing sponsorships and partnerships
- Monitor and review the performance of each sponsorship with the aim of improving results
- Increasing sponsors and partners
- Manage sponsorship activation
- Project manage existing events from planning to delivery
- Deliver events on time and within budget
- Setting and maintaining timelines for events
- Liaison with venues, partners, sponsors, vendors, staff and stakeholders
- Ensure smooth running of events including excellent customer service
- Develop new event ideas
- Manage larger social events to increase scale and quality and of these events
- Develop industry specific leagues
- Plan and deliver promotions at external events
Background, Skills & Experience
You will need two years’ experience at a commercial sporting organisation, ideally in the adult social sports and fitness market. Previous experience working within a small business, or start up would be beneficial. As would completing a similar role within a charity.
You will also need previous experience in commercial sales or sponsorship management and event management. You will need experience of managing multiple projects/events.
You will need to have excellent organisational skills and strong presentation skills. You will need excellent communication skills both written and verbal. You will need high attention to detail with the ability to delegate effectively.
You should be a strategic thinker and planner with the confidence to achieve ambitious targets within the role. You will need the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
Your day-to-day role will see you working in Try Tag Rugby’s London office. Events are held throughout London and its surroundings and overseas travel may also be a possibility.
A minimum of 35 hours per week.
Core hours will be 9-5pm Monday to Friday. Plus, up to 12 weekend events throughout the year. Time off can be taken in lieu for weekends worked.
We are looking for the successful candidate to start in early December 2017, or January 2018.
Full-time, permanent contract with six-month probationary period.
You must provide evidence you have legal working rights in the UK.
20 days paid holiday per year plus public holidays.
Negotiable depending on experience.
About Try Tag Rugby
Try Tag Rugby started in the UK in 2009 and was derived from Oztag in Australia. Tag Rugby is a non-contact social sport which is similar to Rugby League or Touch Rugby but the players where shorts with Velcro patches with tags attached. A “tackle” is made when an opposition player pulls the tag/s off the shorts. Seven players in each team are allowed on the field at a time, and the pitch is smaller than a full-sized rugby pitch. The attacking team has six plays or tags to try to score a try or take the ball down field as close to the line as possible.
Try Tag Rugby has offices in London and Yorkshire, and also operates in Manchester and the Thames Valley.
Try Tag Rugby has several full-time staff and contractors. Regular staff socials take place including lunches, after-work drinks and activity afternoons including bowling, zorb football amongst other events throughout the year.
