TAG RUGBY FORMAT

  • Maximum of 12 players per squad, maximum 4 male players on the pitch at any one time
  • Division 1 will play 8-a-side with full international rules. Try Tag Rugby’s standard rules apply for Divisions 2, 3 & 4 which will be 7-a-side.
  • All players must be registered for insurance purposes
  • Teams will be seeded based on submitted squads. Squads must be complete by midday on 21st May.
  • Seeding is done at the discretion of Try Tag Rugby, incomplete squads may result in higher seeding than expected
  • Consumption of alcohol is prohibited until the tournament has concluded
  • Division 1 squads can have a maximum of nine players who were capped internationally in 2024, while there can be no more than three internationals per team in Division 2; no more than one in Division 3; and none in Division 4. PRESENTATION & AFTER PARTY

On completion of the finals, the presentation will take place on the main stage before the after party kicks-off for all players with live music, multiple bars and food options, followed by a DJ and dance area until midnight.

Four times world champion DJ Mr Switch will again headline the entertainment at TagFest London 2025.

Mr Switch is an expert party-rocker who spins multiple music genres & always entertains the audience. A favourite at festivals, Switch has performed closing DJ sets at Bestival, Shambala, Glastonbury & TagFest London 2024! Radio credits include DJ mixes & performances for Radio 1, 1Xtra, KissFM & BBC Asian Network.

DJ Switch will be supported by Try Tag Rugby favourite DJ Astech, a regular at TagFest London for a number of years.

VENUE

The 2025 tournament will again take place at Richmond Athletic Ground, Twickenham Rd, Richmond TW9 2SF, just a ten minute walk from Richmond train station. The venue is also just off the M3 and M4 for travelling teams wishing to drive, however we’d encourage all attendees to arrive by public transport where possible.

Full female and male changing facilities are available on site for use before, during and after the tournament – particularly important for getting yourself changed into your after party outfit once the games are finished. Please note, dogs are not permitted at this venue unless required for assistance.

ON THE DAY

Fixtures for the day are scheduled to take place between 10am and 7pm with exact divisional timings to be confirmed once seeding is complete. The winners’ presentation will follow the Division 1 Grand Final with the official after party then running until midnight.

FOOD & DRINK

Five food vendors will be onsite throughout the day’s play and into the evening providing a variety of culinary options for teams and spectators while two outside and two inside bars will keep the drinks following during the biggest after party of the year!

PLAYING KIT

ITF approved Tag Rugby shorts or tights are compulsory, available from the Try Tag Rugby shop in advance or via card at our shop on the day. A limited number of shorts will also be available to hire on the day for £8.

STANDARD

  • Division 1 is suitable for Nationals level, Super League or upper A grade standard teams
  • Division 2 is suitable for A grade or upper intermediate standard teams
  • Division 3 is suitable for teams that have been going at least a year and consider themselves upper beginner to intermediate standard
  • Division 4 is for teams that have been playing less than a year, featuring mostly beginner players who are ideally entering their first tournament

INTERNATIONAL PLAYERS

Division 1: 9 maximum
Division 2: 3 maximum
Division 3: 1 maximum
Division 4: No GB players allowed

Any player capped by Great Britain, Ireland, Australia or New Zealand during 2024.

To help facilitate teams registering with their usual tournament squads where players have been selected in the expanding number of Great Britain teams, players in the newer Women’s 35s and Men’s 40s squads will count as 0.5 toward the total international player cap.

REGISTRATION

Team registration is available at the cost of £280 for squads of 12.

Individuals can register for £28. If registering as an individual we’ll add you to a team or create a team of other individuals.

AFTER PARTY & NON PLAYER TICKETS

Combined after party and spectator tickets can be purchased via the Try Tag Rugby shop for £10 in advance, or £12.50 at the gate (if the event doesn’t sell-out).

All participating players get free entry to the after party.
