TagFest Sheffield 2025

Join us in Sheffield, for our inaugural event, TagFest Sheffield.

Sheffield is the city with more trees than people, known for its many things, vast range of music, fantastic nightlife and many activities such as hiking in the peak district or going to watch the different sports we have to offer, plus Henderson’s relish.TagFest Sheffield gives ample opportunities to seize which would make a weekend to remember.

This is a fantastic day of tag rugby where you get to play against new players and teams. A chance for you to meet new people from Sheffield and across the UK.

WHAT TO EXPECT

• 90 minutes of game time
• Pool stages followed by divisions.
• Food and Bar available

TAG RUGBY FORMAT

• Maximum of 12 players per squad, maximum 4 male players on the pitch at any one time
• Try Tag Rugby’s standard rules apply
• All players must be registered for insurance purposes
• Players must be 16 or over to participate in the tournament and/or attend the after party
• Teams will be seeded based on submitted squads. Squads must be complete by midday on the 8th July.
• Seeding is done at the discretion of Try Tag Rugby South Yorkshire, incomplete squads may result in higher seeding than expected
• Consumption of alcohol is prohibited until the tournament has concluded. All alcohol must be purchased on site.
• All Teams can have no more than four internationally capped players per squad

PRESENTATION & AFTER PARTY

On completion of the finals, the presentation will take place at Sheffield Tigers RUFC before the after party takes place in the city centre. Further details on the after party will be confirmed nearer the time.

VENUE

The 2025 tournament will take place at Sheffield Tigers RUFC, just a 20 minute taxi drive from Sheffield train station.

Directions for driving:

The venue is just off Hathersage road A625.

Rough estimated driving time to Sheffield Tigers RUFC from the following locations:

• Leeds – 1 hour 20 minutes
• Manchester – 1 hour 30 minutes
• Wigan – 1 hour 45 minutes
• York – 2 hours

Public Transport:

• Both the 272 Castleton Peakline & 65 Tideswell buses from Sheffield train station (Pond Street) bus will drop you off at Hathersage Road/Brickhouse lane followed by a 5 minute walk to the venue.
• The 81 Ecclesal & Dore bus from Arundel Gate (Cs123), 10 minute walk from Sheffield train station will drop you off at Causeway Head Road/Cross Lane followed by a 10 minute walk to the venue.

Full female and male changing facilities are available on site for use before, during and after the tournament – particularly important for getting yourself changed into your after party outfit once the games are finished.

ON THE DAY

All teams and players will be required to arrive at the venue in order to register at least one hour before kick off with the games scheduled to take place between 11am and 5pm. Exact registration opening times will be confirmed in the welcome email.The winners’ presentation will follow the Cup Grand Final with the official after party starting after the presentation.

FOOD & DRINK

Food and drink can be purchased on site.All alcohol must be purchased on site.

PLAYING KIT

ITF approved Tag Rugby shorts are compulsory, available via card from our shop on the day. A limited number of shorts will also be available to hire on the day for £5.

STANDARD

Teams are going to play in a round robin format in multiple groups before being split into divisions.

REGISTRATION

Team registration is available at the cost of £230 for squads up to 12.

Individuals can register for £25. If registering as an individual we’ll add you to a team or create a team of other individuals.

If you have a group of friends and want to play together but you don’t have enough for a team, please sign up as individuals and contact us by email (southyorkshire@trytagrugby.com) with the players’ names who wish to be placed on a team together.

You don’t have to play in our leagues to get involved with TagFest Sheffield, players from elsewhere and those who’ve never played before are encouraged to come and join the fun!

The registration deadline for the event is 12 midday on Tuesday 8th July unless the event sells out earlier.
