Charity partner named for Corporate Challenge Yorkshire

Try Tag Rugby Yorkshire's third annual Corporate Challenge, which will take place on 12th April 2018 at Weetwood Sports Park in Leeds, has named Marie Curie, the leading charity for people with any terminal illness, as charity partners for this year's tournament.

Try Tag Rugby’s Corporate Challenge Yorkshire is the only tournament specifically for work teams. The tournament is an opportunity for both new and existing corporate teams to get involved. Previous tournaments in London and Yorkshire have attracted a range of companies including Deloitte, Willis Towers Watson, DLA Piper, Google, Citi and Coca Cola. Faye Cryer, Marie Curie Community Fundraiser in Leeds said: “We’re absolutely delighted that Try Tag Rugby Yorkshire has chosen Marie Curie as the beneficiary for their Corporate Challenge this year. Chances are, we all know someone who’s been affected by a terminal illness and it’s heartbreaking that not everyone gets the care and support they need to live their final days with dignity, in the place they want to be. Our nurses care for people in their own homes, providing one-to-one care overnight and support for family members. We’re always here with expert information, guidance or just a shoulder to lean on. It’s thanks to kind-hearted organisations like Try Tag Rugby Yorkshire and the generosity of the people and companies who enter an event like the Corporate Challenge that Marie Curie can continue to provide care and support to people with a terminal illness and their families.”

Faye explained: “This is a great opportunity for both organisations to work together and promote the work we both do in the local area to an audience we wouldn’t necessarily speak to day to day. There will be lots of fantastic prizes up for grabs at the raffle on the evening. Marie Curie would like to thank the local businesses for their generous donations of prizes.”

Carl Duckels, Try Tag Rugby Yorkshire General Manager said: “We are delighted to have chosen Marie Curie as this year’s Charity Partner for our Corporate Challenge Yorkshire Tag Rugby event. It’s difficult to think of anything worse than being told that you or a close family member or friend has a terminal illness. The invaluable work that Marie Curie undertakes in supporting and caring for those in such a position, as well as those close by, is nothing short of amazing.  We hope that partnering up with Marie Curie will not only help raise a significant amount of money to go towards the wonderful work they do but also increase awareness of the charity.”

Try Tag Rugby Yorkshire will donate all profits from the Corporate Challenge Yorkshire event to Marie Curie. Staff and volunteers from the charity will also be on hand during the event to promote the charity and the work that’s happening in the local area. Marie Curie will also be running a raffle during the event with some fantastic prizes up for grabs to help encourage all those involved to engage in the spirit of the event and help raise as much money as possible.

Team numbers are limited so make sure you confirm your place in the event as soon as possible, For more information including how to register your team, please click here.
