A Spooktacular Send-Off: London Autumn Tournament Review

The sun was shining, the costumes were outrageous, and the Tag Rugby was as entertaining as ever! The London Autumn Tournament 2026 brought the Try Tag Rugby tournament calendar to a spectacular close on Saturday 31 October, with 64 teams descending on King’s House Sports Ground in Chiswick for a sold-out Halloween special.

With teams competing across two categories, Social and Beginners, the tournament welcomed players of all abilities, including plenty of first-timers and visiting teams from Oxford, Reading and Brighton. The glorious autumn sunshine provided the perfect backdrop for a day filled with competitive Tag Rugby, fantastic costumes and an unbeatable atmosphere.

Frightfully Good Tag Rugby

While Halloween fancy dress brought plenty of laughs, there was serious competition on the pitches as teams battled their way through the tournament.

In the Social A Cup Final, NL Globetrotters faced Skull and Try Bones in a thrilling conclusion to the category. It was Skull and Try Bones who emerged victorious, claiming the title with a 3-1 win.

The Beginners Cup Final saw Footloose: The Retirement Tour take on Pablo EscoBEARS. Footloose delivered an impressive performance, securing a 7-3 victory.

There were plenty of reasons to celebrate across the tournament with winners in the Social A Plate, Bowl and Social B Cup, Plate, Bowl and Shield also.

Tricks, Treats and Flying Pumpkins

Of course, this wasn’t just about the rugby. Halloween fancy dress was out in full force, with too many incredible costumes to mention!

Octopassers 2 embraced their mischievous side as naughty nuns and a priest, while Max Pretending to Be a Gorilla brought the Mario Kart universe to life. Individual entrant Jaffar also impressed with her costume, earning a £75 bar tab for her efforts as chosen by the crowd.

Adding to the Halloween madness was the Pumpkin Toss, a rather unconventional sporting challenge that saw participants attempt to shot-put pumpkins as far as possible to win prizes. The results were spectacularly messy, with pumpkins smashing across the ground to huge cheers from the watching crowd. Safe to say, the pumpkins didn’t survive the afternoon!

One Last Big Social for 2026

As the final whistles blew, the celebrations were only just getting started.

From 5pm, players swapped the pitches for the dancefloor as the tournament’s legendary after-party kicked into gear. With a DJ, music, dancing, food and plenty of Halloween spirit, the celebrations continued right through to midnight.

The London Autumn Tournament marked the final major Try Tag Rugby tournament of 2026, and what a way to finish!

A huge thank you to all 64 teams, referees, spectators and everyone who helped make the day such a success. From first-time tournament players to familiar faces returning for another year, it was a brilliant celebration of everything that makes the Try Tag Rugby community special.
