Try Tag Rugby will return to the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool on Monday 28 September, as MPs from Lancashire and Yorkshire go head-to-head in a special Tag Rugby match at Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The event, organised alongside the Rugby Football League (RFL) and Rugby League’s All-Party Parliamentary Group, will see more than 20 MPs and other political figures swap Westminster for the rugby pitch in the latest instalment of the traditional Lancashire v Yorkshire rivalry.
Try Tag Rugby will deliver a short warm-up and introduction to Tag Rugby before the match, providing players with Tag Rugby shorts and tags and getting the teams ready to play.
The match will once again be refereed by leading Rugby League referee Liam Moore.
This year’s event represents a significant step up from the inaugural fixture in 2025, which took place at Chavasse Park in Liverpool ONE during the Labour Party Conference.
Yorkshire claimed the honours on that occasion, with the teams featuring MPs alongside Rugby League names including Adrian Morley and Jamie Jones-Buchanan.
The 2026 fixture moves to Hill Dickinson Stadium, the home of Everton Football Club, with the MPs’ match forming part of a morning of Rugby League activity that will also involve Learning Disability Super League players.
The event provides an opportunity to showcase Tag Rugby as an accessible, social and inclusive form of the game to MPs, Rugby League figures and media attending the Labour Party Conference.
