On Sunday 28th September 2025, just days after the thrilling conclusion of the Women’s Rugby World Cup, the UK’s women’s Tag Rugby community came together for a landmark event. Try Tag Rugby, in partnership with Tag Sports CIC, hosted the largest women’s Tag Rugby tournament ever staged in the UK, welcoming 26 teams and over 250 players from across the country.

The action-packed day featured two categories – Women’s Open and Women’s 30s – and marked a record-breaking moment for the sport, more than doubling the size of last year’s tournament.

UK’s Biggest Women’s Tag Rugby Tournament

Players of all levels, from first-timers to seasoned competitors, took to the pitches, showcasing the growing strength and popularity of women’s Tag Rugby. The event wasn’t just about competition, it also offered development opportunities. Tag Sports CIC ran a Skill Zone, where players could sharpen their techniques and receive expert coaching throughout the day.

Women’s 30s: Phoenixes Rise to Victory

In the Women’s 30s category, the Phoenixes and The Scrummy Mummies battled it out in the final. The Phoenixes, tournament favourites after completing Phase 1 unbeaten with four wins and a draw, lived up to the hype. Despite The Scrummy Mummies’ determination, the Phoenixes’ watertight defence proved unbreakable, securing a decisive 6-0 victory and the Women’s 30s crown.

Women’s Open: Drama in the Final

The Women’s Open final delivered on excitement, as Granny Hawks Gone Wild faced off against Tagkeshi (YTG). After a tense, back-and-forth contest that ended level, the match went into a dramatic Drop Off. In the end, Tagkeshi (YTG) held their nerve and snatched the win, lifting the Women’s Open trophy to raucous celebrations.

Elsewhere, Snitches Get Switches claimed the Plate Final, while Vibes Angels and Ravens brought colour, energy, and atmosphere to the tournament, living up to their names and ensuring the sidelines were just as vibrant as the action on the pitch.

Celebrating Growth in Women’s Tag Rugby

This record-breaking tournament was more than just a competition, it was a celebration of women’s sport, community, and opportunity. The growth in participation reflects a rising passion for Tag Rugby across the UK and highlights the dedication of players and volunteers driving the game forward.

On behalf of Tag Sports CIC and Try Tag Rugby, a huge thank you goes out to every player, coach, official, and supporter who made this momentous day possible.
