TagFest London 2025 Review: Mud, Music, Magic

Over 90 teams joined us at TagFest London 2025 at Richmond Athletic Ground. There wasn’t much hope for a glorious summer’s day, but spirits were anything but dampened. Teams gleefully slid through muddy pitches, and the marquee transformed into a cosy hub where players mingled and played beer pong. From beginners to elite Division 1 competitors, a true community vibe thrived all day and into the night.

TagFest London aims to include everyone – catering from Division 4 beginners to Division 1 elite representatives with loads to celebrate at the end. The marquee and after-hours party helped build connections beyond the pitch – TagFest isn’t just a tournament, it’s a beacon of Tag Rugby summer joy!

Division 1 Final: Turtles vs The Alpacas
After a 1‑1 draw, the Final went to Drop Off – a nerve wracking situation where both teams drop to 5 players only. The Alpacas pushed hard from kick‑off but were undone by a knock‑on. The opportunistic Turtles scooped up the loose ball and raced to claim the TagFest Trophy – an electrifying climax to the day.

Fancy Dress Competition
The theme was Sporting Icons – from swimmers to rugby players, the outfits were on point. Highlights included the impressive Nelson Tagger’s Day Out and Teletaggies 2 outfits – but it was Connor, whose stage appearance and crowd performance snagged the free bar tab.

During the day we screened the Premiership Rugby Semi-final, Leicester Tigers v Sale Sharks, on the big screen, which was the perfect downtime entertainment.

A mouth‑watering food lineup featured Lil’ Watan, Scandilicious, Back Street Diner, Aroma, plus the “Not Just Gin” bar.

The fabulous DJ Astech and 4x world DJ champion Mr Switch brought the festival atmosphere until the small hours.

TagFest London was a whirlwind of fun. A huge thank you to the TTR team, the referees, Richmond Athletic Ground and our external partners who expertly delivered our biggest event of the year.
