It’s been a big 12 to 14 months for some of Try Tag Rugby’s newest franchise regions.

  • Newcastle now runs 30 teams across the region after just 14 months
  • Salford has grown to 13 teams in only its second season
  • York reached 13 teams in just over a year

And looking slightly further back, Edinburgh, which launched in 2022, has now grown to 70 teams. These recent successes highlight how powerful the model can be when driven by local ambition and support.

Each of these franchisees brought something different to the table, but they all had a good local network, a passion for community sport and the drive to build something. With full training and support, both initial and ongoing, from the central Try Tag Rugby team, they’ve shown just how far things can go in a short space of time.

Could it work in your city?

We’re currently looking for new franchisees to bring Tag Rugby to more parts of the UK.

Some of the best opportunities available right now include:

  • Glasgow
  • Birmingham
  • Cardiff
  • Cambridge
  • Liverpool
  • Nottingham

We’re also open to chatting with people based in Greater London areas like Wembley, Kingston, Croydon, Acton or Richmond.

Wondering if it could work where you live? Here’s what a couple of our newest franchisees had to say:

“We looked at all sorts – sandwich shops, different franchises – but nothing felt right. Then we came across Try Tag Rugby, and it just ticked all the boxes we didn’t know we needed to tick. Now, a year in, we’ve got 30 teams, and people are telling us it’s the highlight of their week.”
– Jack, Franchise Owner, Newcastle

“Some of the proudest moments so far have been at our taster sessions – people turning up nervous, never touched a rugby ball before, and leaving with massive smiles. That’s what it’s all about.”
– Cam, Franchise Owner, Salford

Build Something to Be Proud of

You don’t need to have run a business before, but you do need to be driven, ambitious, and ready to take ownership of something meaningful.

All of our franchisees start part-time, running their Try Tag Rugby business as a side hustle, often alongside full-time work. With consistent effort and the right approach in your area, there’s real potential to build something bigger over time.

If you love being around people, enjoy bringing others together, and want to make a genuine difference in your community, Try Tag Rugby could be a great fit.

With full training, clear systems, and ongoing support, you’ll be building a business that reflects your energy, your values, and your ambition — something that’s rewarding, sustainable, and worth being proud of.
