TagFest Coventry & Warwickshire 2023 saw us back at Leamington RFC. It was an eventful day and you could not keep the smiles off of the players’ faces. We had a number of teams from across the country with last year’s champions Velcrocity TRC returning from Yorkshire to defend their title. Their attacking flair and speed were highlights of the day’s action!
Over the coming months we’ll be announcing more details about the off-field activities and events as we plan to have some exciting competitions and prizes to give away. We will also have a medieval theme for this year’s Tagfest as we are in the heart of Warwickshire!
We are looking forward to welcoming our widest array of tournament attendees as teams head to the tournament from across the UK.
FORMAT
The first matches of TagFest Coventry & Warwickshire will kick-off at 11am and culminate with the Grand Final on the main pitch, in front of the after party area. The winners’ presentations will take place shortly after the final.
All teams will play through the pool stages to determine whether they make it into the Cup, Plate, Bowl or Shield competition for their division.
- All teams will have a guaranteed game time of 90 minutes
- Maximum of 12 players per squad and a maximum of 4 male players on the pitch at any one time
- All squads can have a maximum of four internationally capped players
- All players must be registered for insurance purposes
- Teams will be seeded based on submitted squads. Squads must be complete by Friday 26th July.
- Seeding is done at the discretion of Try Tag Rugby, incomplete squads may result in higher seeding than expected
- Consumption of alcohol by players is prohibited until the tournament has concluded
PRESENTATION
On completion of the finals, the presentation will take place on the main terrace outside the clubhouse with multiple picnic tables available for teams outside before teams carry on the fun there or in Leamington Spa itself.
AFTER PARTY
TagFest Coventry & Warwickshire 2024 is a non-ticketed event. With plenty of entertainment on and off the field, we would encourage friends & family of those participating to come along for the day & evening to take in the flavour of the event. The clubhouse will be open for post-tournament refreshments but the nightlife of Royal Leamington Spa is just a few minutes away!

VENUE
This year’s event will be hosted at Leamington RFC (Kenilworth Rd, Blackdown, Leamington Spa CV32 6RG), just 5 minutes in the car to Leamington Spa town centre and 10 mins to Leamington Spa train station. Free onsite parking is available.
Leamington RFC is located just outside the beautiful Warwickshire Spa Town of Royal Leamington Spa. For touring teams, this is the only Midlands tournament in the TagFest Series and it is perfectly located for welcoming teams from all corners of the country. Royal Leamington Spa is just over an hour on the train from central London, only two hours from Bristol in the South and Manchester in the North so take your team on tour and make a weekend of it.
ON THE DAY
All teams and players will be required to arrive at the venue in order to register at least one hour before kick off with the first games starting at 11am. Exact registration opening times will be confirmed in the welcome email. Play will be completed for 17:00.
FOOD & DRINK
Food and drink will be available on the day at the Clubhouse Cafe from 10am.
SPECTATORS
Spectators are more than welcome, so make sure you bring your friends and family to enjoy the day and all it has to offer in the evening.
PLAYING KIT
ITF approved Tag Rugby shorts or tights are strictly compulsory, available from the Try Tag Rugby shop www.trytagrugbyshop.com in advance or via card on the day. Details on ITF Approved (Tag Rugby) Shorts / Details on Kit Items not Permitted. Shorts will also be available to hire on the day.

Team registration is available at the cost of £200 for squads of 12.

If your usual team can’t play or you just fancy a bit of a change, don’t worry, you can always register for the tournament as an individual for £25 and we will assign you to a bespoke Individuals’ Team of a similar standard or place you on a team that has requested additional players.

INTERNATIONAL PLAYERS
All divisions: 4 maximum
Any player named in British, Irish, Australian, New Zealand or South African squads for the 2023 Tag World Cup or British & Irish Cup.
To help facilitate teams registering with their usual tournament squads where players have been selected in the expanding number of Great Britain teams, players in the newer Women’s 35s and Men’s 40s squads will count as 0.5 toward the total international player cap.
