Having concluded the extended 2023 Tag World Cup cycle with a historic haul of six medals across eight categories and our Women’s 30s becoming GB’s first Tag World Champions, Great Britain Tag Rugby is looking for aspiring, innovative and passionate coaches and team managers to join the programme for the new World Cup cycle.

General applications are being welcomed for Head Coach, Assistant Coach and Team Manager positions across the eight existing Great Britain teams, to complement the strong and experienced existing team who will continue with the programme.

Coaches

Coaching applications are welcomed from those who have experience coaching a UK Tag Nationals region, those who have experience in other sports, or from new coaches who have limited experience but can demonstrate the necessary attitude, skillset and dedication to learn on the job and lead their team to success. Applicants should indicate if they have a preference for a head or assistant role and whether they feel better suited to a particular age or gender category.

The ideal Great Britain Tag Rugby coach will have a background in sports that demonstrates strong leadership, communication and planning skills as well being able to provide examples of success that they have achieved as a result of their skillset.

Managers

GBTR is also welcoming Team Manager applications from members of the Try Tag Rugby and further afield. A background that includes experience in an administrative capacity in a sporting environment is ideal but applicants who have run teams and organised groups in other environments will also be considered. As with the coach applications, prospective Team Managers should indicate if they would prefer to work with a particular age or gender category.

Strong Great Britain Tag Rugby Team Manager candidates would be able to demonstrate strong administrative, communication and organisational skills as well as being able to provide examples of their successful managing of logistical challenges within set timeframes.

Great Britain Tag Rugby is on a mission to achieve even greater success at the next World Cup, with the date and location due to be confirmed by the International Tag Federation in early 2024. In the intervening time GBTR will have international engagements both at home and abroad, including the 2024 British & Irish Cup which we will be attempting to win in Ireland for the first time.

Roles with Great Britain Tag Rugby are voluntary and part-time and the requirements of the role are tailored as such. The majority of GB training takes place on Sundays in London with tournaments usually taking place over weekends. The GB season runs from trials in February and March through to early September. Further details concerning the demands of the Head Coach, Assistant Coach and Team Manager roles can be discussed during the application process.
