Try Tag Rugby are excited to announce the expansion of Vets leagues to six locations for the Early Summer 2024 season.

After piloting the concept in London over winter, Vets leagues will be rolled out in London (Finsbury Park Weds & Clapham / Balham Thurs), Leeds (Thurs), Coventry (Mon), Reading (Thurs) and Leigh (Thurs).

Vets leagues are the perfect blend of camaraderie and competition for players in their 40’s, 50’s and even 60’s. The minimum age for men is 40 and women is 37.

Registration for Early Summer season 2024 is for individuals only, allowing us to mix up the teams with a range of ages, genders and tag experience levels. This helps create a league with a strong community feel, where all players get to know each other throughout the season.

After the games, players are encouraged to head for post-match drinks, reminiscing about those epic tries and game-winning moments!

Vets leagues begin from late April, with Free Taster Sessions running in advance in all locations.

Format & Rules

  • Age range – Men 40-70, Women 37-70.
  • All men must have turned 40 before the first round of the season, and all women must have turned 37.
  • Gender – Open – No restrictions or gender breakdown of players.
  • Tries are worth one point.
  • A Bonus point is awarded if a try is scored by a woman.
  • A bonus point is awarded if a try is scored by a player over 50
  • Two bonus points are awarded if a try is scored by a player over 60.
  • Age cut-offs for over 50s & 60s are the date of first round of the season.
  • Over 50s and over 60s to be identified by colored wristbands at the venue.

Finsbury Park – Wednesdays from 24/04. Free Taster Session – 10/04*
Clapham & Balham – Thursdays from 25/04. Free Taster Session – 18/04 (Balham)*
Leeds – Thursdays from 25/04. Free Taster Session – 11/04*
Reading – Thursdays from 02/05. Free Taster Sessions –  04/04, 15/04, 22/04, 25/04
Coventry – Mondays from 22/04. Free Taster Session – 15/04
Leigh – Thursday from 09/05. Free Taster Sessions – 18/04, 25/04 & 02/05

*Over 75 Free Taster Sessions are being held UK wide in April. Older players can attend any Free Taster Session, the above sessions are just exclusively for the Vets leagues. Trial sessions can also be arranged for new players once the leagues begin.
