2026 has been another exciting year for Try Tag Rugby, with three new regions successfully launching, four new franchisees joining the network and record numbers of people playing Tag Rugby across the UK.

New franchisees Harry Pew (Bournemouth), Nathan Wray (Glasgow South) and Patrick Alexander (Nottingham) have all successfully established leagues in their local areas.

Having launched at the start of summer, the three new regions have continued to grow, reaching a combined 32 weekly teams by autumn 2026.

It’s been fantastic to see the enthusiasm and commitment Harry, Nathan and Patrick have brought to their regions, creating new opportunities for people to get active, meet others and enjoy playing Tag Rugby.

The network also welcomed Chris Staines, who took over the established Reading franchise in March, while Roger Rebelo continued developing Oxford as a separate territory.

Across the network, our franchisees come from a range of backgrounds but share a commitment to building thriving local sporting communities. They combine their own initiative and hard work with Try Tag Rugby’s proven model and national support.

A Growing National Network

Growth across our franchise regions has been particularly strong in 2026. In Early Summer, the number of weekly teams run by franchisees rose 24.8% year on year, from 315 in 2025 to 393 in 2026.

Across the full year, franchise-run team numbers increased by 21.3% year on year, demonstrating continued momentum across the network.

Overall, Try Tag Rugby expanded from 33 to 36 locations across the UK, reaching a record 981 weekly teams and nearly 12,000 players at its peak.

Beyond the numbers, these leagues are bringing people together, helping them get active, make new friends and enjoy the social side of sport.

The network also came together in October for its second annual National Conference in Leeds, providing an opportunity for franchisees to share experiences, learn from one another and celebrate their achievements.
