On Sunday 22 March 2026, the women’s Tag Rugby community came together at Kings House Sports Ground, London, for a celebration of sport and connection. Hosted by Try Tag Rugby in partnership with Tag Sports CIC, the International Women’s Day tournament brought together 12 teams and over 120 players for an afternoon of competitive rugby and community spirit, while raising funds to support greater access to Tag Rugby across the UK.

More than just a tournament, the event highlighted the continued drive to create inclusive, women-led spaces within Tag Rugby, welcoming new players alongside returning teams from across the south, including Bristol and Brighton.

A Day of Competition, Development and Celebration

Teams battled it out across a fast-paced afternoon of fixtures, with the debut of Tournify helping to keep the action flowing smoothly.

Alongside the matches, players had the opportunity to develop their skills through a dedicated coaching zone delivered by Tag Sports CIC. Supporting players of all abilities, the coaching added another dimension to the day, helping individuals and teams grow in confidence as the tournament progressed. The Valkyries were a standout example, starting steadily before finding their rhythm and crossing the try line by the end of the day.

Off the pitch, the atmosphere captured the true spirit of International Women’s Day. With music, colour-coordinated ribbons and an IWD trivia quiz, the sidelines were just as engaging as the action on the field. The Valkyries once again impressed, taking top spot in the quiz and proving their strength extended beyond Tag Rugby.

Finals Deliver Drama and Quality

The Plate Final provided one of the most dramatic moments of the day, with She Wolves and travelling team Brighton & Hoes level at 2-2 at full time in a tense contest. A nail-biting Drop Off followed, with She Wolves holding their nerve to secure the win.

In the Cup Final, Roses delivered a composed and clinical performance, securing a convincing 4-1 victory to lift the title and cap off an impressive tournament run.

Elsewhere, the presence of GB Women’s Masters players, representing Phoenixes Blue and Red, added another layer of quality to the competition as they continue their preparations for the ITF Tag World Cup in Australia this October.

Supporting Access Through Sport

Tag Sports CIC once again played a key role in delivering the event, with fundraising efforts supporting their work to increase access to sport for underrepresented groups across the UK.

Adding to this, Nashi Pear Juice, supporters and Tag players themselves, kept players refreshed throughout the day and generously donated 50% of their takings to Tag Sports CIC.

On behalf of Tag Sports CIC and Try Tag Rugby, a huge thank you goes out to every player, coach, official and supporter who made the day possible.
