VENUE SUPERVISOR

London & various other locations
Part-time

Try Tag Rugby is regularly looking for Venue Supervisors to help deliver great weekly experiences at our social tag rugby leagues in London, West Yorkshire, Manchester, Edinburgh, Bristol, Newcastle and more locations.

This is a hands-on, people-facing role. You are the face of Try Tag Rugby at your venue, responsible for running the league on the night, leading referees, supporting players, and creating a welcoming, well-organised, and social environment.

This role is flexible. Some supervisors work one league a week, others work several. There are also opportunities to pick up additional shifts, event work, and ad hoc support across the season.

What you will be doing

  • Supervising weekly leagues on-site, including set-up, running matches, and pack-down
  • Leading referees and any other venue staff on shift
  • Ensuring leagues run smoothly, on time, and to a high standard
  • Being the main point of contact for players and team organisers at the venue
  • Delivering a positive, inclusive league culture and strong customer experience
  • Completing duty reports, recording injuries, and ensuring scores are submitted accurately
  • Applying rules and policies with common sense and consistency
  • Supporting post-match socials at partner pubs and end-of-season presentations
  • Carrying out basic first aid and venue health and safety checks
  • Promoting upcoming leagues, events, and taster sessions to players
  • Refereeing games when required to ensure league delivery
  • Delivering taster sessions or social events.

Working pattern

  • Part-time, flexible role
  • Most shifts are weeknights, typically between 6:30–10pm
  • Opportunities range from 1 to 5 shifts per week, depending on region, availability and season
  • Additional paid work available around events, tournaments, and ad hoc support
  • Weekend work may be available, particularly around events

What we are looking for

  • Reliable and organised, with good attention to detail
  • Confident leading people and making decisions on the spot
  • Calm under pressure when things don’t go to plan
  • Friendly, approachable, and comfortable dealing with players and referees
  • Accountable and trusted to run a venue independently
  • Happy working outdoors and on your feet for extended periods
  • Genuinely interested in sport, people, and community

Previous experience in sport or leadership roles is helpful but not essential. What matters most is that you align with how we work and with Try Tag Rugby’s core values, which guide how we deliver leagues and look after our community.

Pay and benefits

  • Hourly rate – we are a living wage employer. The exact starting rate varies by location.
  • Paid to the nearest 15-minute interval
  • Holiday pay accrued in line with statutory requirements
  • Expenses reimbursed in line with company policy
  • Invites to staff socials and wider Try Tag Rugby community events
  • Opportunities to progress into senior venue roles, full-time positions, or longer-term opportunities within the business, including franchising
