Brighton Tag Pride 2025

Join us in Brighton for our very first Brighton Pride Tag Tournament. Members of the LGBTQ+ community, friends and allies alike are welcome to register.

Everyone is welcome at this event.

WHAT TO EXPECT

• Social Tag Rugby tournament
• 75 minutes of game time
• Individual teams only, small intimate event
• Players of all standards welcome from beginner to advanced
• Fun, new friends, and a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community

TAG RUGBY FORMAT

• Standard TTR social league game format with some special fun tournament rules announced on the day
• All players must be registered for insurance purposes
• Teams will be arranged in advance by the Event Director
• Consumption of alcohol is prohibited until the tournament has concluded
• Individual and social team prizes will also be awarded alongside the winners

13:00 Teams meet & greet, chuck a ball around
14:00 Games kick off
17:30 Tournament ends & presentations pitchside
20:00 After-party starts

PRESENTATION & AFTER PARTY

On completion of the games, the presentations will take place in the park pitchside before we head into town for an evening after-party. Further details regarding the after-party to be announced to participants.

THEME

The theme for this event is Bright & Beautiful. Think colourful clothing and anything bright! You can also pick up a pair of Pride Shorts/Tights in the TTR shop before the event and we will also be selling Rainbow Laces 🌈 on the day with all proceeds going to Stonewall UK.

VENUE

The tournament will again take place on the upper pitches at Preston Park, Brighton, BN1 6SD, just a ten minute walk from Preston Park train station. The venue is also just off London Road for travelling players wishing to drive, however we’d encourage all attendees to arrive by public transport where possible. There is free street parking available on nearby streets, please check signs.

Basic changing facilities & toilets are available above the Chalet Café for use before, during and after the tournament. Dogs are VERY WELCOME to join us but please make sure they don’t run onto the pitches, unless they know how to play Tag.

Please note there will be a comedy festival in the lower end of the park on the same day but Brighton & Hove City Council has confirmed this won’t affect our event.

ON THE DAY

Fixtures for the day are scheduled to take place between 2pm and 5:30pm with exact timings to be confirmed once registration is complete. All teams will be individual teams, so this is a great opportunity to play with new people and make friends. There will be a team meet & greet from 1pm, giving everyone the chance to warm-up together and say hello to their teammates before the games kick off.

PICNIC TIME

Players are encouraged to bring picnics and food/drinks to this event. Please make sure you only consume alcohol when your games are finished. There is a café next to the grass pitches which is open to the public serving hot/cold drinks and snacks e.g. cheesy chips, cakes, scones

We encourage you to bring picnic blankets, speakers, park games and whatever else you like to enjoy on a summery day in the park.

PLAYING KIT

ITF approved Tag Rugby shorts or tights are compulsory, available from the Try Tag Rugby shop in advance or via card at our shop on the day. A limited number of shorts will also be available to hire on the day for £5.

STANDARD

This tournament is suitable for everyone, even complete beginners. The focus is on playing some fun, social Tag in the sunshine to celebrate and support the LGBTQ+ community.

New players can get a rule briefing and hire shorts for the event.

REGISTRATION

Individual registration only £20.

AFTER PARTY & SPECTATORS

All players get free entry to the after party. Details of this will be communicated directly to participants and if the capacity allows, we can invite friends along too.

Everyone is welcome to come to Preston Park during the day and cheer on those playing in the tournament.
