York Summer Tournament 2026

We’re back for round two.. a great summer’s day of Tag and to see who’ll win the Yorkshire pudding swinging competition! Join us at our brand new venue for a relaxed day of fancy dress fun, spirited Tag and a social until late. Registrations are now open and you’ll want to sign up ASAP to guarantee your team or individual spot as our event last year sold out very quickly. See you there!

WHAT TO EXPECT

• 20 teams
• 90 minutes of game time
• Pool stages followed by a Cup, Plate or Bowl competition
• Food & bar
• Clubhouse open until late
• Practice those Yorkshire pudding swings
• Grab your best fancy dress for an epic round two!

FORMAT

• All teams will have a guaranteed game time of 90 minutes.
• Maximum of 12 players per squad, maximum of four 1-point scoring players on the pitch at any one time.
• Standard 7-a-side Try Tag Rugby rules apply for all categories.
• All players must be registered for insurance purposes. Squads must be complete by 29th May. 
• International cap limits apply. Please see information further down this page.
• Players must be 18 or over.

VENUE

York RI RUFC

• A thirty minute walk, ten minute cycle or eleven minute drive from York train station.
• A fifteen minute drive from York City Centre. Free parking available onsite.
• Changing and shower facilities available.
• Please note, dogs are not permitted at this venue unless required for assistance.

ON THE DAY

Teams are welcome to arrive onsite from 10:00 with the first games starting at 11:00. Play will conclude by 18:30.

York RI Clubhouse bar will be open throughout the day. Food and drinks stalls will also be available on the terrace outside the clubhouse. The after-match social will run until half ten, followed by a City after-party.

Spectators are welcome free of charge and can stay for the after party.

Alcohol will only be served to non-players during the tournament. Once out of the tournament players are able to purchase alcohol. No alcohol will be permitted to be brought on site.

PLAYING KIT

ITF approved Tag Rugby shorts or tights are compulsory, available via card at our shop on the day. A limited number of shorts will also be available to hire on the day.

REGISTRATION

Register by 29 May — spaces are limited and will close as soon as we reach capacity!

Team registration is £245 for squads of 12.
Individual registration is £27 and we will assign you to a team. Perfect for making new friends! Want to sign up a small group? Sign up as individuals and drop a line to york@trytagrugby.com with the players’ names.

An international player cap applies for this event. Please see the details below. It is the team’s responsibility to ensure the limit is not exceeded, if you have any queries, please contact us.

INTERNATIONAL PLAYER POINTS

All teams at York Summer Tournament have 4 points maximum.

Players count towards the cap if they:

• Played international Tag Rugby representing a nation in 2025.
• Were named in the 2025 GB Tournament Squad – these players can be found on the International Talent Cap Players for 2026 Events

Point values:

• 1 point – Capped at Open or Seniors level
• 0.5 points – Capped in U22s or Masters level
• 0 points – Capped in Over 50s
