The UK Tag Nationals is back! The highest level domestic Tag Rugby tournament in the country returns with two new regions (Newcastle and York), an even better host venue (University of Nottingham), and an improved offering for the Regional Tournaments.

Key information is available to view on our UK Tag Nationals event page and the tournament brief can be accessed here.

This year’s event is being held at the University of Nottingham (Highfields Sports Complex), Saturday 17th May 2025. The world class facilities were used this summer to host the Touch World Cup and as a result are perfectly set-up to provide us with the ideal venue for our highest level tournaments.

All teams will also compete in a respective regional warm-up tournament as follows;

Northern & Scottish – Saturday, 1st March. Cochrane Park, Newcastle
Southern & Midland – Saturday, 15th March. Park House School, Newbury
London – Sunday, 16th March. Kings House Sports Ground, Chiswick

PLAYING KIT

Coventry & Warwickshire, Edinburgh, Manchester, Newcastle, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, Wigan, York will all receive new kit for 2025 either due to feedback from players and Regional Managers or due to a required branding update.
Brighton & Hove, Bristol, East London, North London, South London, Thames Valley, West London will reuse their 2023/24 UK Tag Nationals for 2025 before receiving a new kit in 2026.

Following training squad selections in December players are encouraged but not required to buy kit during the first kit order window open until 10th January. Players will be allowed to play in the Regional tournament even if they are not wearing the region’s kit.

Following final squad selections in March players selected for the UK Tag Nationals who do not have their region’s latest kit are required to purchase. Players will only be allowed to play in the UK Tag Nationals if they are wearing the correct kit.

COSTS

Playing in UK Tag Nationals is a commitment, both time wise and financially.
There are a number of potential costs associated with the event, including:

  • UKTN Regional Tournaments registration fee – £21
  • UK Tag Nationals registration fee (if selected) – £26
  • Playing kit – £49.90-£56.90 (depending on the items selected)
  • Accommodation in Nottingham (If required – Friday and or Saturday)
  • Travel to Nottingham for UK Tag Nationals and to your UKTN Regional Tournaments venue
  • Costs associated with any pitch hire for training

MINIMUM AGE

Starting in 2025, the minimum age for players at the UK Tag Nationals will be 18. Players must have turned 18 by 1st January 2025. This date has been chosen to cover the entire UK Tag Nationals programme including training, not just the event itself. We recognise that some players who are under 18 at this date have participated in previous years. These players will remain eligible to play. If this applies to you, please contact us (putting “FAO David Shipley re Nationals” on the message title) for further information on our transition to this new policy. Players who are new to UK Tag Nationals and do not meet the age requirement should not nominate themselves for selection in 2025.

REGISTRATION

As this is a representative tournament, selection for your region is not guaranteed. To be considered for selection, you must nominate yourself by registering via the links below. Applications are open now and will close at 12pm on Thursday 12th December unless advertised as earlier in your region. The 2025 UK Tag Nationals training squads will then be announced no later than Thursday 19th December with successful and unsuccessful players notified by email prior to this.

Nominations are a two stage process. You should first follow the links below to register yourself on the system before following the link on registration confirmation screen or in the email you will receive in order to complete the second part of the process on a google form.

Most regions will be holding trials to help managers and coaches select the teams. Although players are encouraged to attend any trials being held in your region, people who are genuinely unable to attend trials will still be considered for selection. Registering for trials and nominating yourself for selection are two separate processes and you must do both if you are going to trial.

Coaching and Management Applications
Coaching applications are still being welcomed for vacant positions in your region. Interested and incumbent coaches and team managers should contact their Regional Manager to submit their application.
