Tag Rugby is a fun and exciting minimal contact social sport suitable for all adults, no previous rugby experience is necessary and it’s a sport that can be enjoyed by beginners and experienced players alike.

Tag Rugby is a great way to meet new people, as well as a chance to meet up with existing friends. There will be weekly post-match socials, where players come together to enjoy a drink with their teammates and opposition. The York licence will be run by Aristotle (Ari) Alexopoulos. Ari brings Try Tag Rugby to York having previously played at various locations around the country including in Leagues in nearby Leeds.

Ari said: “I am incredibly excited to join Try Tag Rugby as the York licensee. For myself and many other people, Try Tag Rugby truly is a National family of friendly, enthusiastic, social and inclusive tag players, referees, coaches, support staff and organisers. I started playing in Leeds as an individual in a beginner league and was blown away by how fun it was! I’ve since helped create numerous teams across Yorkshire in the various leagues and tournaments. I am really looking forward to setting up Try Tag Rugby leagues and events in York in the coming months and years.”

Try Tag Rugby National Licensing Director, Carl Duckels said: “With Try Tag Rugby already having successful leagues in nearby West and South Yorkshire, moving North to York is something we have wanted to do for a while. We have just been waiting for the right person. We now feel with have that in Ari. Ari’s first Try Tag Rugby experience was signing up as an individual to a league in Leeds. He has therefore been in the position that most of his players will find themselves in this summer. The passion and love Ari shows for the game after only a few years playing, is testament to the impact Tag can have on people’s lives. It will be fantastic to see him now giving this same opportunity to the people of York.”
