Thames Valley Leagues
2017 Reading Spring and Early Summer Leagues
Try Tag Rugby returns to the Thames Valley in 2017 with Spring and Early Summer mixed leagues running at Reading Sonning on Monday evenings and Early Summer mixed and men's leagues running at our Reading Central venue on Thursday evenings. For the first time in 2017 we are also launching the inaugural Corporate Challenge Thames Valley in aid of the great charity Anthony Nolan.
For new players, free taster sessions are scheduled to run at both venues leading up to the seasons kicking off.
Our Reading Sonning venue at Redingensians has recently renovated first class facilities, including well looked after Rugby pitches, full changing facilities and an on site bar. The club house has a large balcony (see photo below), perfect for a cool drink after playing Tag Rugby! Parking is available on site.
Our Reading Central venue at King's Meadow is a lovely open park on the banks of the Thames, just a short walk from Reading town centre and train station. The new Thursday night league in Reading promises to be particularly social with players regularly mixing in the after match pub over a drink or bite to eat.
New players and teams of all skill and fitness levels (from beginners to experienced Rugby players) are welcome to join either league, and will no doubt be made extremely welcome.

A free ladies day will be held on April 13th at our Reading Central venue. Free Ladies' Days are ladies' coaching sessions put on by Try Tag Rugby so female players can work on their skills, increase their Rugby knowledge and most importantly, have a good time! Our Ladies' Day sessions will include warm up tagging, attacking and defensive drills, line running, modified games and will finish off with an all ladies' friendly match. Existing registered players are welcome to come along to improve their game.
Free taster sessions for new players are scheduled for April 3rd and April 13th.
Registration is open to whole teams, part-teams and individual players who'd like to be placed in a team.
Note: Any team organisers looking to re-register an existing team should login to their account here, and re-enter the team for a new league through the my teams tab on your player dashboard.
All team registrations are not confirmed until a deposit payment of £100 has been paid. For players registering individually, your place is not confirmed until the full registration fee has been paid. Registration closes six days before the league starting date or whenever the league becomes full.
Don't leave confirming your registration until the last minute or your team may miss out!
Tag Rugby Shorts
Official Try Tag Rugby shorts or Try Tag Rugby ladies' tights are essential equipment for playing the game, and must be purchased before taking to the pitch in all Try Tag Rugby competitions. Shorts can always be bought from Try Tag Rugby staff by paying £12 in cash at all our leagues or events. Shorts (£12), short tights (£23) & mid length tights (£26) can also be purchased in our online shop, to be either picked up at your venue or to be posted out. If you already have a pair of Tag Rugby shorts or Tag Rugby tights, please note due to safety reasons (ie length of the shorts being longer than the tags) and consistency (ie strength and location of the Velcro patch) the only other brands of Tag Rugby shorts or Tag Rugby tights we allow in our leagues are brands sanctioned by the International Tag Federation such are Oztag, SAS (NZ Tag Football) and ITRA (Ireland). Homemade shorts, any other brands of shorts and Tag Rugby belts are strictly not allowed!
As the number of teams in our leagues continues to grow, we are on the lookout for experienced players or people with experience of refereeing other sports to get involved as referees. For further details and to find out about upcoming referee's workshops click here.
Don't forget to join the Try Tag Rugby Thames Valley Facebook Page to keep up-to-date with all Try Tag Rugby news and interact with other players in the league.
